  7. The strong sales of that ablum helped Chet transform himself into what he left longtime label RCA to be in the first place: a contemporary jazz artist. Street Dreams was where the transformation became complete. (Indeed,a 12" single of "The Official Beach Music" had a sticker proclaiming Chet to be the label's "New Age Jazz King".).
  8. Apr 27,  · I have to agree on the earlier, the better. My monaural copy of the album The Best of Chet Atkins is never far away from the turntable I've always liked that song sequence, and some great help on those songs with, IIRC, Boots Randolph on "Django's Castle" (there are no credits on the album, of course). My faves are his version of the Stan Kenton .
  9. Street Dreams still divides Chet Atkins fans, which is one reason you know it’s worth paying attention to. Atkins made this music to appeal to an audience that might have never heard his canonical country recordings, with help from a team of veteran producers, players, and arrangements drawn from the jazz world—including Ronnie Foster, Daryl Dybka, and George and Eduardo Del Barrio.
